I booked for the 7th july. Suddenly the date has changed and they have taken twice the amount from my account.

  • Older travelers

I liked the freindly staff they couldnt do enough to help. Hotel was clean and food was exalant

  • Older travelers

Clean good room size tv good good shower

No bar or resturant open on a Saturday evening

  • Older travelers

Only stayed due to location and we were attending an event there on the Sunday

Rooms are very tired and in serious need of renovation and deep cleaning. There is a very musty smell in the rooms. Bathrooms very dated - 70's coloured suite with white toilet seat???? Hard to get a drink after 11pm even though we were staying there.

  • Older travelers

    Confortable bed.

Room was cold -only had a portable electric heater and -4 degrees that night. Bathroom really grotty - didn't have a shower as tooo cold and dirty looking.

  • Older travelers

Bar was closed for private party - hard to get a drink as a wedding was being set up in the other room so no seating available! Hotel bedrooms are very tired looking. Coloured bathroom suites with tiles in need of good steam clean. Lots of stains on ceiling and walls.

The foyer and restuarant were updated, but were the only parts of the hotel that was up to standard from the rooms I saw!

It was very sad to see what had once been a lovely hotel so run-down and uncared-for. I was on the fourth floor, (not ideal for someone disabled!) which doesn't appear to have had any care lavished on it in a long while. A bright orange bathroom suite in a very poor state of repair, hardly any light bulbs working (which had the advantage of hiding the grubby carpet!) and an ancient desk/dressing table. Two tiny drawers were available only, and the heating didn't work, so the room was freezing cold in the morning. I rang reception to ask for a bedside light that worked and was told to move rooms, but as I had unpacked, I preferred to have a new lightbulb!! Two and a half hours later after another call to reception, a lady appeared with an enornous table lamp (from reception perhaps?), which was so big it barely fitted on the bedside table. I had paid £12.50 for an evening meal on my original booking, but was told only bar snacks were available that day. I ordered a curry and rice (£7.95), but no naan bread was available so I was given garlic bread, and suffered badly from indigestion during the night. I had the worst glass of rose wine I've ever had in my life, and waited for 50 minutes for my meal. The following day when I went to the restaurant for breakfast (£6 also pre-paid with my booking), there was no fruit or yoghurt, or decaff coffee which I required; orange juice was from a machine and was horrible, and my bacon sandwich consisted of two doorsteps of stale bread with a couple of rashers of rock-hard over- cooked bacon, most of which I left. On leaving, the receptionist said that I owed £4.60 for the glass of disgusting wine, but I told her that I had overpaid £4.55 for my meal in my booking. She was extremely rude and told me I wasn't entitled to any refund for the food, as I could have eaten in the restaurant (which had been empty with no menus around) and used up the full amount paid, despite the fact that I had been told to eat in the bar.

The location was good, just a short bike ride from the town centre.

I couldn't access their wifi and got no signal on the 3g network. I also had a lovely view of a flat black roof and my sink had an extra hole in.

  • Single

room was very tired, carpet was heavily stained, outlook was flat roof littered with cigarette towels in room

  • Older travelers

The Allesley Hotel is very convenient for Birmingham Airport which is useful when you have early flights. It is also conveniently located for us when coming to see our family in Coventry being just off the a45 and in a pleasant location in Allesley village. The beds are comfortable.

There are lifts to each floor but you might then have to go up and down steps to individual rooms due to the layout of hotel. Not too good if you have alot to carry or 'dodgy'!! Knees.

  • Older travelers

When we complained about 1st room we were quickly moved to a better one -had the impression from other guests rooms of same price varied appears to have come under new management so hopefully will up their could be excellent as staff all very helpful

The 1st room we were given was very poor -this was changed the next day on our request ....2nd room much better --would always recommend travellers view their room before accepting .-we were in a hurry to visit friends so put up with an unacceptable standard the 1st night

All the improvements made over my last 6 visits. The breakfasts are spot on now from previous disasters.

TV still needs to be updated, choice of programes very poor.

    The staff were pleasant

I had to try three rooms before I found one that was secure or prepared by. I have not received a receipt yet as promised. I did not have breakfast because the service was to slow and the tables were unclean, i.e hairs in the cups and stains on the table cloths.

Original room was a single very small and had a very dirty carpet tv was tiny and had only 2 channels The staff very kindly gave me another room which was very nice but again 2 channels on tv but at least it was larger.
